Our most recent project in Charvil, Berkshire, is another example of one of our turnkey design and build projects.
From our first meeting with this client, we provided all the original drawings. Our in-house structural engineer worked out all the calculations, provided detailed drawings and we submitted a Building Control application (planning not required as this is a permitted development project)
We first met the client in November 2023 and demolition works began on 12th January 2024, with the conservatory coming down to be replaced by an extension and a full internal strip out.

The property is vacant during the works, so we are working closely to a schedule of works to enable the client to get back into their new home as soon as possible.
We use the SketchUp program to enable us to create visuals for our clients, this technology is consistently improving and we are now able to provide our clients with realistic renderings of their project. Designs are completed on my iPad, laptop and to get right inside the design, I use my Oculus 2 AR headset. Although we have been providing a design and build service for our clients for many years, this evolving technology revolutionises how our clients can see in 3D the exterior and interior of their new home/office/building.
The brickwork is almost finished, the roof goes on next week and the internal works are 70% complete. Windows are going in as I type and the kitchen fitters are lined up.
This new technology enables us to make quick changes to a plan, meaning our clients can feel relaxed about making design change suggestions and allows us to be flexible.
The software does take a certain amount of skill and knowledge of construction, but I love using this tool and believe this is part of the future for small builders who want to be able to offer a full range of services for their customers.
I thoroughly enjoy working with this program and love working with the Virtual Reality Headset. I would encourage anyone interested in design to have a try.
