We have worked with this customer on a couple of property renovations already, so they knew our standard of workmanship and were able to trust us with this job over in Croydon. This is outside of our usual geographic area but as we know the client well and this was a project for their children to live in whilst studying at a London University, we willingly took on the work.
Well, not only was it a long way from Reading, but it also turned out to be the ‘house of horrors’ affectionately named by our Project Manager Alex.
It was one of those jobs when, each time you started something, another problem was lurking just under the surface or just around the next corner. The client needed a full strip out, this had been a rental property for the last 20 years and there had been limited investment, but as their children were going to be living in the property, they decided to take everything back to bare brick, and we are all so relieved they did, as there were some aspects of the property that were structurally dangerous, (all obviously now resolved) but without this approach, things could have been missed.
We started on-site in early October 2023 and after many stops and starts, we handed the completed property back to the client in early 2024.
It was a total transformation from the property we took over last year and the client was thrilled with the property we returned to him after a challenging renovation for him and the team. He now knows that his daughters will be safe living in the property after the total renovation was completed.
