Before we start, it’s important to say, what an exceptional individual Chris is, now in her late 70’s she describes age as just a number and you can see by her life and her style she is truly living by that mantra. We spend time in a customer’s home and working closely with them on a renovation project, so often get to know a person really well and them us too. Chris has a wonderful energy about her and it was a pleasure to be a part of her dream home coming together.
When Chris originally bought the home it was run down and the garden was completely grown over, the previous owner was a hoarder and there was an enormous job removing all the rubbish in the garden to create the incredible garden she has now. She explained when she first visited the property, she had no idea it was sitting on the edge of a lake and this view has been what many of the design features in the property pointed towards, including her larger master bedroom windows and the double bifolds across the ground floor extension for the kitchen and living area.
Chris had instructed an architect and also had the benefit of a family member who was in construction supporting her with her Elivate project manager Barrie and Mark Fowles our MD. The project included a full internal renovation and remodelling, a double side and rear extension with a single-storey extension along the rest of the back of the house, creating a 4 bedroom, 3 bathroom, (there is a shower room downstairs included in that), a large open plan living and kitchen area as well as front living room, where she can host her family for big get-togethers over the holiday periods.
Chris found Elivate through the Little Green Book, which if you haven’t seen it, has been delivered to homes around the area for years. She has invited several builders to quote and although Elivate didn’t seem to be the cheapest quote upfront, Chris explained that it was the most detailed, giving specific costs for almost 100% of the project, meaning there were no hidden costs during the build.
When asked what she felt about the project Chris said “ I absolutely love this home, the work carried out by Elivate was to a very high standard, the quote was accurate and comprehensive. I did somethings outside of Marks quote like the kitchen, I used my own supplier, I think if I did it again and would have gone with Marks recommendations.”
Would you recommend Elivate to others wishing to carry out a building contract? “ Yes I would, and I have, I have even invited people to come and look around the home”
Was there anything specific that you thought they did well? “Other than the build project, I was grateful they took it upon themselves to write to all my neighbours, it was such a lovely touch, having such a major building project could have really made it hard for me when I was due to move in, but they all complimented how nice and amiable the team was”
